The auction is filled with rare pieces of artwork, MCM furniture and MCM accessories for the home.
Jane was a lifelong dancer, including a brief stint as a student in the Martha ...view moreGraham School. She was friendly with Paul Taylor and Alvin Ailey, composer Carmen Moore, and innumerable other artists and creative people.
She spent her life championing the arts through nonprofits and in public schools across the country, and taught at Teacher’s College, Columbia University, and NYU.
She was director of Capezio Ballet Makers Dance Foundation for many years. She was the author of two books about arts in education, one of which became a standard teaching text.
Many of the art pieces in the auction were acquired through her associations with the artists she worked with and knew.
Other pieces of art were bought by her parents during the 1940s and ’50s, some at the famous sales at the Brooklyn Museum.
