A Chinese horseshoe-back armchair having a back splat with a pierced carved water buffalo and flowers above a very fine woven cane panel - the rectangular shaped seat in woven cane with string supports and beading around perimeter, late 18th to eary 19th century. The chair also with a carved and scrolled apron below the seat that extends down the sides of the beaded legs on the front and sides. The base with stepped and mortised cross stretchers and foot rail. The chair appears to retain original ebonized finish which exhibits good use wear on front seat rail, arms, and foot rest - probably Yew wood. 36 1/2"H x 24"W x 22 3/4"D x 20"H to top of seat.
