"Self Portrait leaning on a stone sill" by Rembrandt (Harmenszoon van Rijn). This etching is a restrike from an original etching dated 1639 (signed in the plate upper left corner). Rembrandt was a Dutch painter and etcher and is generally considered one of the greatest painters and etchers in Europe. Many people are surprised to learn that it was a Rembrandt etching rather than his paintings that were responsible for his international reputation. This etching is beautifully framed and presented. Reputable galleries seldom, if ever, offer such pieces of art for sale under $1000 that are also so well framed.
