Painting of the USS McCracken, one of 117 Haskell-class attack transports, was built to a modified Victory ship design at Vancouver, Washington, and was commissioned in 1944 as a transport ship for Marines and supplies used late in WW2 and after during the occupation of Japan.
This line of transport ship was decommissioned from the Navy in 1959. Probably painted by one of the crew after it was decommissioned in the 1960s. Many were scrapped in the early-1980s
