Item Description

Spectacular antique bronze statue signed Ene. Aizelin. Statue has a theme well known in antiquity, called The Arcadian Shepherds. Cast by the Barbeddiene Foundry with French Seal. Measures approx. 8” L x 6.5” W x 16.5” H. Eugen Antoine Aizelin (1821-1902), was a successful & highly honored French sculptor. The statue features a maiden & a shepherd mourning at a tomb. She is dressed in flowing robes & he is wearing a woven shepherd’s hat with crook in his right hand, its tip resting on a papyrus bearing an inscription in ancient Greek
