Item Description

“A Tall Story” highlighted print on board by Margaret Dovaston. Measures approximately 31” w x 24.5” tall in fine wood frame. The title tells the whole story. A group of gentlemen, clearly in the hostelry where the figure on the right has been fishing for trout, are sitting by the hearthside listening to the character in blue telling a story which is possibly not to be believed. The gentleman in the red coat clearly does not believe him whilst the figure in the green coat is sitting back as though he has heard it all before and the figure in-front of the fire is paying great attention. This is a conversation piece showing late Victorian life. The back of this piece needs a little cleaning as pictured.
