Vintage Sarsaparilla Cast Aluminum Desk Clock - Original Body With Quartz Clock Works. This vintage model's face does not read the word "Quartz" - but it has been retrofitted with a quartz movement from Japan. Circa early 1983.
**This Plane Clock came from the Home / Estate Sale of the famous pianist - the late Donn Trenner. He began his career playing with Ted Fio Rito from 1943–45, and followed this with a slot in Buddy Morrow's orchestra in 1947. He worked with Charlie Barnet in 1951 and following this with Charlie Parker, Skinnay Ennis, Les Brown, Jack Jones, Lena Horne, Ann-Margret, Shirley MacLaine, and Nancy Wilson. He also toured with Bob Hope entertaining the U.S. troops. Additionally, he recorded with Tommy Dorsey, and Nelson Riddle. In the 1960's he worked as a studio musician and led The Steve Allen Show house band. He continued working in television throughout the 1970's and 1980's.
Dimensions: At its widest - a 13 1/2" Wingspan x 2 3/4" Deep x 4 1/8" Tall.
Overall Good with some minor issues: the time adjustment knob is missing but the stem can be turned to set the time. There is no back plastic cover for the movement chamber. I have seen many without a cover but I have also seen one with a black plastic cover. It worked and ticked for me for the last 6 months but the battery just expired. Needs a battery replacement.
