A great piece of history, this vintage cast iron fire starter cauldron with brass lid adds that primitive feel to your space. Used to start fires, the cauldron or pot held kerosene or lamp oil into which a pumice stone wand was dipped. The wand end was then lit and placed under the fireplace logs to start a fire. These pots were often used instead of kindling because the kerosene would burn at a high temperature long enough to get a fire going.
A great decorative piece to compliment your fireplace, patio, shelf and more. It measures approx 8 inches x 8 inches. The pumice wand measures approx 12 inches long.
Overall good vintage condition. General wear,
and surface rust is present as shown in the photos.
