VINTAGE BIRCH MODEL 30 BOETSCH BROS PORTABLE SUITCASE CRANK PHONOGRAPH

Birch model No.30 Picnic/Suitcase Phonograph. Manufactured in New York by the Boetsch Bros. This model operates by winding a removable crank that you insert in the front, which allows the turntable to run, just like an old Victrola. The lid locks open with an arm that allows it to be fully open or fully closed. The turntable is 9" in diameter covered with a soft velvet type material. There is a tonearm that swings over and rests its needle on the surface of the record. The reproducer works amazingly well. The sound comes out of the opening alongside the turntable. There is no volume control. Start and stop the record by means of a lever on the front right of the turntable; speed is adjusted by means of a lever on the opposite side. Record storage is in the lid. Needle storage is intact with closing lid-full of assorted needles! This portable cabinet measures approximately: 14¼" by 12" by 7". It shows minor wear on the outside of the case. Carrying handle is intact but I would suggest not carrying/picking it up in this manner. There is light surface rust on metal fittings. You can wind it and play your old records like days-gone-bye! A great nostalgic and conversation piece! Nice and clean. Works but needle attachment needs new screw and is very loose but plays!
