This item is unique in that it appears to be a scale, but is in fact fixed in place. The bar that supports the two baskets is affixed to the decor sitting on top of it and the supporting beam affixed to the base. This item is only for decoration and not a working balancing scale. That being said - it is a very attractive item with amazing character and style. Perfect decor for a refined and mature space.
