Vintage 18kt Italian Gold Pendant Of The Virgin Mary

This lot contains a vintage 18kt gold pendant of The Virgin Mary. The pendant weighs approximately 2.8 grams or 1.8 dwt (pennyweight).

According to the gospels of Matthew and Luke in the New Testament, Mary was a first-century Jewish woman of Nazareth, the wife of Joseph, and the mother of Jesus. Both the New Testament and the Quran describe Mary as a virgin.

The "BREV" stamp on the back of the pendant stands for "Brevetto." This is the Italian term for patent or license, and the stamp signifies that the particular design or piece has been licensed or patented.

The "750" stamp on the back of the pendant is just one of many different types of hallmarks. This stamp indicates that the pendant has been tested and is classed as 18 karat or 75 percent pure gold. The remaining 25 percent of the item is composed of different metals such as nickel, copper, or in some cases silver.
