Exhibition quality model of the 1934 America’s Cup defender Rainbow, a J class yacht designed by W. Starling Burgess, built by the Herreshoff Company and owned by Harold Vanderbilt. The large model has a planked mahogany deck which carries skylights, cabins, wheel, binnacle, cleats etc. With custom wood, metal, and glass display case, with plaque inscribed "1934 America's Cup Yacht 'Rainbow' Designer: W. Starling Burgess/ Builder: Herreshoff Company/ Owner: Harold S. Vanderbilt/ Length: 126.7 Ft./ Draft: 14.6 Ft./ Beam: 21 Ft./ Tonnage: 141.1/ Sail Area: 7535 Square Ft./ Lannan Ship Model Gallery, Boston".
