Jackie Gleason (1916-1987), found enduring fame on television. After first appearing in The Life of Riley, the rotund comedian starred on The Jackie Gleason Show, where he created such legendary characters as Ralph Kramden (the bus driver on The Honeymooners segment of the show), Reggie Van Gleason and Joe the Bartender. As a result of the comedic talents he displayed on TV, he became known as "The Great One.
