About the artist:
Because of his highly unusual lifestyle, Heyboer is arguably one of the Netherlands’ most eccentric artists of recent decades. His quirky domestic arrangements included him sharing his life with five wives. Heyboer described himself as the ‘Robin Hood of the art world’ in terms of his high artistic output. Trained as a mechanical engineer, he began drawing after the Second World War, albeit in a traditional style. Between 1954 and 1957 he developed a personal philosophical formula on which his abstract art works are based. Notwithstanding, there are always figurative elements in his paintings and etchings. He also added texts to clarify the themes in his work, in which human relationships often play a major role.
