Sergeant / Frederic Remington Bust
Frederic Remington
1861 – 1909 American
“Sergeant” was originally known as ‘Bust of Rough Rider Sergeant’. The original bronze sculpture was created in 1904 by the artist as a tribute to the First U.S. Voluntary Cavalry and was one of two small busts he created for the purpose of making it affordable for the public to be able to buy and own a Remington bronze. This particular piece is a recast that bears the artist’s name, a ‘copyright by Frederic Remington’ inscription. The cast bronze sculpture has dark brown patina that shows the hard life of a tough soldier of the Rough Riders, whom Remington rode with and respected.
