This is a superb example of a late 18th century carve horn snuff box, as would be held by a user during the REVOLUTIONARY WAR era. It is peined and pegged, with a snugly fitting lid. Likely ox horn, as the color graduates from a beige to deep brown color. An early spoon still present in the reservoir. A rare survivor, especially in consideration of age, which is well over 200 years!
