Note about the artist: Born in 1906 in Belfast, James Carlin became a noted painter in mod-realist genre style, figure, landscape and still life. Watercolor was a specialty. James studied stained glass painting and design and worked in a number of churches in Ireland. He emigrated to the US in the became an instructor in the New Jersey School of Fine and Industrial Art in 1946. His career at that school lasted 30 years.
