Item Description

Beautiful mid-century plate by pottery master William Wyman.
William Wyman (1922-1980) began his career as a professional potter in 1953, founding Herring Run Pottery in East Weymouth, Massachusetts. Known for both sculptural and functional objects, from hanging planters to architectural murals. Wyman has had far reaching influence through work and teaching. Wyman's works have been shown in most major national and international ceramic exhibitions as well as showings at several museums. His work is in the permanent collection of the Everson-Syracuse, NY, the Met and the Museum of Art and Design-NYC, the MFA-Boston, the Victoria and Albert-London. His papers are in the Smithsonian.
