It's easy to notice the Impressionist details in artist Johnny Gaston's paintings and how he applies such defined features to his subject matter. There are noticeable knife and brushstrokes that blend textural elements with the art movement's distinctive characterizations of color and light.
John Gaston, often listed in auctions and galleries as 'Johnny’ Gaston, is a prolific landscape and street scene painter working mostly in oils, with some watercolour and pastel work also found. His work has been found in exhibits throughout Europe as well as Stateside. His impressionist Parisian street scenes are his most popular works, often finding their way to US collectors. Gaston trained at the Sorbonne, in Paris, and was known to sell his work in the 1970s and 80s, alongside other artists, off easel in Montmartre.
