The Mantel clock is probably from the 19th century. It is a bronze gilt clock which appears to be a very detailed maiden that appears to be a musical and literary muse. There is musical scribe on the top of the clock. With a few scrolls above the music we believe the word poetic is engraved with text symbolized below it. Her dress is very detailed in many layers. She has earrings on and her dress sleeves were probably held together with beads her sandals appear Grecian in style and she is playing the lyre. Her pose looks as if she is at rest for the moment. The chair she sits on detailed with a pillow and fringe rests on a detailed platform. The base is detailed with curved feet a lion in the center and rosettes on branches balance the lower design.
Amazing bronze mantle clock, very ornate, not in working order
Notes: clock not in working order, missing glass
Consistent with age and use.
