Item Description

Please review photos carefully to assess overall condition of item. One side has Elizabeth II and the other has an adult polar bill. Designed to replace the $2.00 dollar bill, the new bi-metallic Toonie coin was issued in February 1996. Composition: Outer ring of 99% nickel and inner core of 92% copper, 6% aluminum and 2% nickel. Featuring a polar bear in early summer on an ice floe, it continues the wildlife theme tradition preferred by Canadians. ***The coin has a unique electromagnetic signal which allows each coin to be accepted or rejected by coin accepting machines such as vending, parking, transit, and coin counting machines.
