Today we are offering this very nice 1999 Saab 9-3 S Convertible . . . PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE POSTING - while it runs, drives and looks great . .there are some items that I need to mention
Take it from someone who has owned many convertibles there is NOTHING like driving a convertible on a beautiful crisp fall day . . . .well. . .I suppose driving one all summer ! ! ! . . .
Overall . . .I would say it's a good car . . .it runs and drives fine the engine starts up quickly and runs quietly and at the proper temperature . . .the transmission shifts smoothly . . .the suspension is nice and tight and quiet . . .
I took it out for the day last week just to see what it was like . . . IT'S A LOT OF FUN TO DRIVE ! ! ! . . .its got plenty of power . . .I purposely drove over some very large bumps and train tracks . . the suspension was nice and quiet . . .NO rattles or noises . . .all of the brakes and rotors were replaced less than 10,000 miles ago . . .it has a perfect Carfax report with no damage or accidents they reported the car was extremely well maintained with all service being done either at a Saab dealer or at Saab specialist - Carfax shows 40+ service records. . .(ask to see CarFax)
The convertible top is in good / fair condition with some flaws and frays - it does not leak . . .the body is in good condition the paint shows nicely with good shine (its a nice shade of red its not super flashy) . . . . .this car does not appear to have any rust . . .the tires are in great condition and do not appear to be that old . . .these are very nice factory alloys . . .these wheels are a style that you don't see that often . . .I always liked them . . .the interior & carpets are exactly as shown . . .fair number of splits, tears and flaws. . .THE INTERIOR IS NOT DAMP OR MUSTY . .very often convertibles leak and accumulate water. . not this one
To be completely honest with you the car does show a bit better in pictures than it does in person . . .that is not to say it looks bad in person . . .I tend to be overly critical when it comes to cars . . .im laying out all I know about it
The car has 153k miles . . . .relatively low mileage for a 1999 vehicle and quite low mileage for a Saab . . . Saabs routinely will go to 250k miles to over 300k miles . . .very high mileage Saabs are very common . . .
The power convertible the top closes perfectly the mechanism works fine . . . quietly and smoothly . . . however to lower the top it needs to be done manually It is very easy to do it takes 30 seconds I can show you how to do it . . .did not have it diagnosed . . .if I had to guess i'd say it's a micro switch . . . the hydraulics obviously work fine because it closes fine . . .
There are definitely some things that need to be mentioned with this vehicle . . .the "brake" light is on . . . the "ABS" (antilock) light is on and the "airbag" light is on . . . I've been driving European cars for the past 20 years . . . 9 times out of 10 its usually some sensor that needs to be replaced or reset . . .it's usually nothing . . .the oil light flickers on and off which is a very common thing with Saabs (its the oil sending switch) very common issue and inexpensive to remedy.

This car appears to have been garaged, the undercarriage is clean . . .well optioned vehicle. . . . .I HAVE SEVERAL SOURCES FOR GOOD INEXPENSIVE PARTS (both new and used) . . . . . . look on eBay or Car-Part.com - A FANTASTIC RESOURCE !

please note . .the issues im mentioning with this car DO NOT prevent it from being driven on a daily basis. . .pretty much ANY car over 10 years old has some dash lights on . . .im trying to be a nit pick just to give full disclosure . . .it seems like all the options work . . . did not test everything . . .IT SEEMS ITS RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT
If the interior flaws bother you . .for under $100 you can get VERY nice fitted seat covers (they even have ones that look / feel like leather) . . .im not talking about those loose . .ill fitting seat covers that have been around for years that slip and slide around. . .these are almost like a glove . .they look great . . .personally i'd leave the interior alone . . . if you wanted to fix the seam splits . . .I learned from an auto interior expert if you take a needle and dental floss (poke needle in candle wax) . . .you can easily repair splits in the leather seams
please keep in mind this car is not brand new . . . its an older used car with over 100k . . . you will find MINOR dings, dents, scrapes, scratches, flaws, minor leaks, squeaks, rattles, drips, drops, fading, chips & touch up paint here and there there as well as other flaws & imperfections. . . you pay the high bid price (plus buyers premium) . . .we do not collect the sales tax . . .that is paid when you register it (in whatever state you live in) . . .
