Antique Slant Front Desk With Bird's Eye Maple Cubbies & Large Glass Cabinet Storage Space Below

Lovely and elegant bird's eye maple cubby drawers and scroll molding in the interior. Circa 1860- 1880's. Large felt-covered writing / desk work space of 41 1/2" wide x 19" deep. 4 larger than typical interior cubby drawers. Each are 10 1/4" wide x 3" tall x 9 3/4" deep. They all have beautiful hand- crafted dove tail joinery and hand- chamferred bottom planks. They flank a nicely carved 20" wide x 11" deep mid-shelf and lower shelf too. The feet have metal casters. The back side has wonderful dovetail joinery in full show too!
In the lower section are two loose strips of wood that have come loose- they used to be side supports for a shelf board down there that is no longer. This actually allows for lots of storage space for taller items than if the shelf was still installed.
The piece is a beautiful antique patina with the added beauty of the birds eye maple interiors. The brass hinge for the slant front door is loose- missing a few screws (please see photo #16) so you will need to bolster the left-hand side interion door hardware hinge. We did not find a key for the desk.
