A late 19th century Napoleon III Boulle center table with overall tortoiseshell and brass inlaid foliate scrollwork on ebonized wood, gadrooned brass ormolu banding along top edge, the shaped top above single frieze drawer and figurative ormolu bronze mounts resting on cabriole legs and apron.
This fine table would make an elegant desk!

André-Charles Boulle (1642 – 1732) was the French cabinet maker who is generally considered to be the pre-eminent artist in the field of marquetry, even "the most remarkable of all French cabinet makers." His fame in marquetry led to his name being given to the fashion he perfected of inlaying brass and tortoiseshell, known as Boulle.
Dimensions: 61"W x 36"D x 31.5"H
Condition: some of the inlay has separated and will need to be repaired. Wear consistent with age and use. Table is structurally sound and quite beautiful in its own right.
