Antique Mid-19th C. Linen Drying Or Small Quilt Rack - Old Make Do Repairs

This mid to late 19th century linen drying or quilt rack is very quaint in how it represents the ingenuity and recycling of the days of old. It appears to have had the center cross spools replaced by oak dowels when they either wore out/broke, or at least one no longer matched. Over time, the uneven shrinking of the wood has caused a little unevenness in its stance, which was compensated for by slight shaving of 2 opposing feet on opposite ends to compensate for the twist. Some might view all of this in a negative sense, but it is pieces like these that bring true charm to an early home, our ancestors learned to to repair & recycle to ensure the longevity of their possessions and this wonderful piece exhibits every bit of that effort. Wouldn't you want to display an early quilt or two, or linens, on such a charming piece with stories to tell? Measures 29"h X 24"wide X 5" depth.
