Item Description

What a fantastic antique patina - this Chest is sporting ornate reticulated Brass adornments - corners, an escutcheon, two lift lid chains and hinges plus heavy & THICK Brass handles - this Chest (trunk) will surely last another 100 years. Substantial top lid and lower edge molding trim and double bulbous front & back bun feet! The owner of our Estate tells us this was acquired by his Father in an antiques shop- when as a little boy, he and his family lived in Ceylon ( now Sri Lanka ). The climate there was generally in the 100 degree range so his father stored all of his "Drinks" in this chest- Scotch, Gordon's Gin, etc to protect them from the heat.
39 1/2" wide x 19 1/2" deep x 25" tall. The storage body of the trunk affords you 34" wide x 14" deep x 14 1/2" tall. There are shelf supports for one shelf inside but the shelf board is no longer present.

Notes: Some age appropriate splits in the top lid wood- this trunk has beaucoup personality!!
