Antique Balance Scale With Circular Pans

A brass "pivot" balance scale featuring a central shaft, connected to its upper section with a horizontal balance beam. This beam is supporting two circular pans with links, hung through beautifully scrolled "C" hooks while the scale is resting on a curving base which also stores the various weights. Pharmacies would have used a scale like this around the turn of the 20th century. A wonderful collector's item that can also serve as a decorative accent piece when displayed on a console table, chest-of-drawers or buffet.
