Antique 1920’s Sarreguemines French Faience Majolica Fruit Design Plates, Set of 5

Sarrequemines Pottery began in 1778 in Sarrequemines, Lorraine France. In the early 1860’s after the 1855 Paris exhibition they added Majolica to their production. For a brief time in history Sarreguemines became German after the Franco Prussian War. It established and maintained branches in France to remain a French pottery house. One of the potteries most popular patterns was a relief- molded fruit on a background of yellows leaves.

The set contains 5 plates: cherries, pears, apples, grapes, and plums. Each is 7.6” in diameter. Looking so bright and pristine, it is hard to believe they are a century old!

Notes: One plate has a small chip.
