Antique 18th Century French Marriage Chest From The Alsace Region

Antique French marriage chest from the Alsace region, near Strasbourg. 18th century.
Polychrome painted wood, natural pigments. Original finish.
Authentic folk art hand-painted marriage chest dated 1783. Typical design combining geometric motifs with vines, trees, people.
Charming side panels include trees filled with birds, hunters below.

Hand-forged iron hinges. Lock (no key, don’t know if lock works).
Includes smaller interior compartment.

Condition – shows wear, some repairs made over the course of its life, but very strong and sturdy with primitive exposed dove-tail joints.
Plenty of scratches, scuff marks and signs of use show its original character.
Would be great as a blanket chest or storage of any kind.
