The Magnificent book on the great artist Pablo Picasso detailing his time and art while staying at the Musee d’Antibes in 1946. Text by Dor de la Souchère. Rarely seen condition and a work of art in its own right. Housed in a hardboard slip case.
New York, (1960): Pantheion Books. Oblong Quarto. 6pp. text and 98 pages of plates, page 57 contains a catalog raisonne of [12] pp. From July to December of 1946 Picasso stayed at the Musee d'Antibes. While there, he did 23 paintings, 78 ceramics, 33 drawings, 11 oils on paper, 27 lithographs, 1 tapestry and 2 sculptures. When he left, he left behind all the works he had done over this period. They were displayed within 10 rooms. These had never left their rooms but are enjoyed by the many visitors over the years, photographs are by Marianne Greenwood. Bound in white cloth with a Picasso drawing in red, spine is light green and lettered in gilt. The pages are clean and bright, in the original clear mylar jacket, the overall condition is very good with only the most minor age wear to the corners of the hardboard case, mentioned for accuracy.
Slipcase measures 10” wide by 12.25” high by 1.25” deep.
