Item #906743

Item Description

Handcrafted from a whirl of amber and cream tones and patches. The design of the bookends present ancient fluted books, vertically cut to form a nice sturdy pair of bookends that are heavy enough to hold weighty books. Because they are real marble, color varies slightly. The nude figurines first became significant in the art of ancient Greece, where athletic competitions at religious festivals celebrated the human body, particularly the male, in an unparalleled way. These nude Roman athletes were considered embodiments of all that was the best in protecting moral behavior and humanity as a whole. They sit on marble bases.

Franchisini Statuettes: 2 1/4”W x 1 3/4”D x 8”H
