Brysen builds all of his canvas stretchers, and made this one wider than his other works, which allows for the painting to stand freely on a table top. This is why I’ve included a few photos of the painting standing freely on a table top.
Brysen started painting ten years ago with a friend who had recently lost a loved one. Brysen’s initial art included spray painting tributes to this loved one, and realized this was a great way to express his emotions over the loss. Brysen then began to paint more independently, mostly spray painting abstract pieces incorporating splatter, and over time experimented with abstract night sky paintings. In Brysen’s words, he was painting the night sky full of his emotions.
Brysen then experimented with acrylic, which was a significant change in medium. He slowly and reluctantly began to enjoy painting on paper with acrylics, drawing inspiration after visiting several museums and engaging with professional artists. This inspired Brysen to experiment with building his own canvases, allowing for the freedom to create unique and non traditional forms, such as his cube series paintings. Brysen describes the process as his artistic expression reflecting his growth as an artist over the last ten years, and an expression of the emotions that accompanied his experiences.
“I thank you for giving me a chance and hope you find my work as interesting as I do.”
