OPCG welcomes this majestically scaled new serigraph by the founder of the Yunnan School of contemporary Chinese art. Elephants symbolize great power and good fortune, and Jiang portrays the aura of strength and dignity of a mother elephant as she presents her beloved child to the world. During the Cultural Revolution, Jiang was sent to China’s remote rainforest region, where the wildlife and cultural traditions inspired him artistically and spiritually. He and his family now live in California.”

Bio:
Jiang Tiefang was an elder statesman of the now famous Yunnan School and Heavy Color Movement, which revolutionized Chinese painting in the 1980s. A professor at the Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, and the creator of the national monument Stone Forest in the Great Hall of the People, Tian-an-men Square.Jiang Tie Feng is also the leading subject of scholarly surveys of the contemporary revolution in Chinese painting.
