At Ridgeway, our reputation stands behind each clock we make. So everything we do in constructing one of our timepieces is consistent in quality and craftsmanship. Our clocks are created by the best design team, who are familiar with your way of life, as well as the various periods and styles of furniture you may have in your home. Their artistry, together with the skill of our craftsmen, transforms the finest woods into beautiful, heirloom quality timepiece cabinets. Each step in the construction of a Ridgeway clock demands equal attention - from the selection of the finest hardwoods and veneers, to the careful installation of the precision movements and gleaming brass hardware, to the scrutiny involved in the final inspection. After the clock's cabinet and crown are carefully assembled, sanded to perfect smoothness with all pieces meticulously hand-fitted .
Each cabinet is examined and inspected for the precise placement of the remaining individual parts, including the movement and dial assembly. The most attention to detail is given to the finishing process of Ridgeway clocks. Personal attention is given to every one of the up to 18 finishing steps of hand rubbing the wood to a deep, rich patina, and then waxing. The door glass is then fitted into its intricate frame; each has a special retainer molding which secures the glass in place and allows for easy removal for replacement if ever needed. The brass door lock hardware and accent pieces are attached, the four floor levelers secured, and the side access doors on the crown are covered with fretwork grills wrapped in speaker cloth to resonate the rich chimes.Final Finishing of Ridgeway Grandfather Clocks
There are three different chimes available in our Ridgeway clocks: St. Michael's (Winchester), Westminster, and Whittington. Every Ridgeway clock has the Westminster (Big Ben) chime, a deep sounding chime that announces the hour. The clock's German movement is fully inspected before assembling. The movements are thoroughly tested for accuracy before mounting to the dial plate, then the clock hands are precisely attached to the movement.
The finest in quality control is exhibited in the construction of Ridgeway clocks. Every step of each clockâs assembly is thoroughly inspected to meet our exacting standards. Because our high standards are necessary to create a quality timepiece that will meet your high standards. We are dedicated to the production of quality time- pieces - worthy of the Ridgeway name, worthy to be an heirloom in your family.
