Item Description

7 Vintage Currier & Ives Lithographs of majestic, multi-sail, Clipper Ships of their earlier 1850's Paintings. Named original Artists: C. PARSONS on both- "Ocean Express". 1856. & "Nightingale". 1854; E. Brown Jr. on "Flying Cloud". 1852. The Litho of the " Three Brothers" has no named Artist- but interestingly it has: "The largest sailing ship in the World!". Three other Lithos: "Clipper Ship Sweepstakes"; "Clipper Ship Sovereign of the Seas"; and "Clipper Ship Contest".
These were discovered at an Estate Sale in Wilton, CT a few years back and the Owner of the home was selling her Mother's items.
Each Litho has this sentence written directly under the center of the artwork in nice script font. They all say " Entered according to act of Congress in the year ....(1852/1854/1856 accordingly) .... by N. Currier, in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of New York." Down below the title and caption is: "Lith. & Pub. by Currier & Ives, 152 Nassau St., NY."
