2 African Hand-carved Bookends

2 beautiful clearly hand carved bookends. One is a female figure and the other I would assume a young male. They were a bit dirty but cleaned a lot of the grime off, still more could be done. Strong belief that these were carved in Africa. No commercial markings and base indicates that the wood was clearly from a block. I cannot imagine the time it would take to carve these but there is some repaired damage, (see pictures at the end). They both have carved dangling earring on inside and since there is a hole in the outside ear I imagine that there used to be one there too, but more exposed might have broken off. Superb quality.
