Condition: Toned, starting to separate internally but holding, light tone interior. With light blue stamp of the Marine Biological Laboratory Library; Woods Hole. Deaccessioned. Pages 433 to 576. Articles by Spencer and Lord Salisbury. Salisbury on ‘Evolution’, an ongoing debate with Spencer, and Darwin about the evolution of the species. Also, article on child drawing, education in Europe and the US (A PhD was not awarded from ANY US University until Johns Hopkins in the 1890’s).
Popular Science began in 1872 as "The Popular Science Monthly". There was a publication hiatus in the last months of 1915, after the magazine's then-owner sold it and started The Scientific Monthly. No issue copyright renewals were found for this serial. The first copyright-renewed contribution is from April 1929. The magazine ceased publication in the early 2020s, but the publication continues as a website.
