Item Description

1911-21 Morimura Brothers small vase with Floral images and gold gilding (somewhat worn through use). Measures: 5.6875 by 3.25 inches in width with smaller top opening at 2.1875 and base inset at 2.25 inches. Very nice and delicate with translucency when held to the light. Rings when tapped. No hairlines or cracks but gilding is worn from cleaning. A much-loved vase.

135. Mark: "M" standing for "Morimura" in a wreath, crowned by "Hand painted" and below, NIPPON. Date: Introduced in 1911 and possible in use until 1921. The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake back stamp for importing is 1911. Noritake first produced dinnerware for the American market in 1914. A piece of the dinnerware in the Noritake factory in Nagoya shows that the pattern was The Sedan (11292), a white body with cream border with a small spray of flowers. It bears a typical back stamp of Noritake, the letter "M" in a wreath and the words "Hand painted."

JAPANESE NIPPON MORIAGE KINGFISHER PORCELAIN
VASE Antique Japanese Nippon vase. Porcelain vase is Moriage decorated and features a hand painted kingfisher bird and double handles. Maple leaf mark to underside. Mark was used by Morimura Gumi as early as 1891 to 1911. Vase measures approx. 7 3/4" tall x 5 1/4" wide.
