Moroccan Etched Brass Alter Candle Holders

We are a bit puzzled by these because all of the ones we're seeing online have the trays attached mid candle holder. They are in good vintage condition. The pieces were not together in the home but the designs match and the trays seem to be a large version of a drip protector.
