Chinese Green Jade Bi Wood Frame

This delicately carved jade bi comes in a wooden frame. The wooden frame is decorated beautifully. The bi disc sits in the wooden frame. The round disc is carved in grain design, a pattern of raised curls. It is extended with elaborate carvings in openwork on the top. We see dragon-like mythical creatures. The bi disc had ritual or symbolic purposes and was used as a status symbol.
