VINTAGE WHIMSICAL PORCELAIN "BEE" COVERED DISH OR BOX BY TAKITO, JAPAN, 1920s - 30s

Charming and nifty vintage covered candy dish or trinket box by Takito, Japan, 1920s–1930s, the porcelain body of ribbed flattened ball form with integral tray or underplate, the lid with finial in the form of a blue-winged bee, finished in pale blue-gray and pink luster glazes with hand-painted accents, approx. 4" tall overall by 6-1/2" wide at the base, the underside marked "Hand Painted, , Made in Japan."

A striking example from this early-20th-century Japanese firm known for its quirky novelty wares.

Notes: In excellent condition, with no cracks, chips, crazing, or staining.
