Scarce and early No. 6 skillet or frying pan by Lodge Manufacturing Co., South Pittsburg, Tennessee, late 1940s–early 1950s, cast iron, the base with raised molded heat ring , the interior cooking surface approx. 7-1/2" in diameter, the overall diameter at rim (excluding pouring spouts) 9-1/8", the underside marked 2 (on raised blob) and "6" (size mark).
Though Lodge generally didn't use their name on their skillets until the late 1980s, the present example has all of the documented characteristics of the unmarked Lodge skillets of the immediate postwar period, including the inset heat ring with gaps at 9, 12, and 3 o'clock; the shift/molder's number stamped atop a small raised blob; and the 3/4" tall size number in the 12 o'clock position. An uncommon, attractive, ready-to-use example from this well-respected maker.
Notes: Mild surface wear from normal use, otherwise fine, attractive condition, with no breaks, losses, or pitting, the skillet resting perfectly flat
