Large original antique indenture/real estate docment, England, February 20, 1861, partly printed on vellum and filled out in a calligraphic hand, 28-1/2" x 21-1/2", bearing the two signers' red wax seals and an applied and embossed revenue stamp.
The document transfers a plot of land in Sutton Estate, Surrey from builder Thomas Huggett of Dartmoor Street, Notting Hill, Middlesex, to tile maker Charles Adams, of Notting Hill, for the sum of twenty-five pounds; several other nearby landowners are named in regard to borders of the property. Both Huggett and Adams have signed in the lower margin. The reverse bears the witness signatures of Thomas Perry, "Hairdresser, 41 Upper Uxbridge St., Notting Hill," and William Coole, "Licensed Victualler [landlord of a public house], Johnson's Arms, Notting Hill."
Notes: Usual folds and slight wrinkling natural to vellum, otherwise clean, bright, very fine, and clearly penned throughout
