LARGE ANTIQUE MEIJI PERIOD JAPANESE SATSUMA VASE DEPICTING TWO IMMORTALS, CIRCA 1890 - 1910

Handsome antique Satsuma vase, Japan, late Meiji Perid (circa 1890–1910), the buff body of graceful ovoid form with narrow neck and flaring rim, the hand-painted, moriage, and gilded decoration featuring two immortals (one male, one female) with gilt halos, dressed in vibrant patterned robes, together with a landscape featuring distant mountains and a river scene with islands and trees, matte black background, the overall height 12-1/2".

A stunning period example featuring rich, detailed, jewel-like decoration.

Notes: Losses to some of the raised moriage dots in the lower background portion, otherwise near fine, attractive condition, with no cracks or chips to the body
