The 800 hallmark is often used on German silver, which is 80% pure silver, as opposed to .925 silver, which is 92.5% pure and is called Sterling.The German 800 hallmark of a crescent moon and crown, also known as Halbmond und Krone, is a national mark that represents the German state. In 1884, Germany made 800 fineness the minimum standard for silver products, and in 1886, the crescent moon and crown mark replaced individual city marks. The mark became mandatory in 1888, along with the fine content and maker's marks. The number 800 is also a common notation for silver in Russia.
Lovely 4 inch silver spoon with a daisy motif no other markings besides Sterling. Tiny 2 1/4 inch silver plate, salt cellar spoon, shovel style spoon marked EPNS made in England 5 inches long, butter knife, 5 inches long with a engraved, marked 1847 Rogers Brothers, a teaspoon with hammered finish marked S. E. B. hammered EPNS, long handled fork with similar hammered pattern marked 1847 Rogers, Brothers, also has a D engraved, small spoon 4 1/2 inches long with hammered finish and D engraved marked 1847 Rogers Brothers.
