Item Description

19th century oil painting of David Bruen (from old Dutch family), brother of Mary Ann Taylor, who was the wife of Brigadier General Nelson Taylor, circa 1850s. Painting measures 35-3/4" high and 29" wide, framed measures 43-7/8" high and 36-1/4" wide. Condition: two tears in canvas. Provided provenance: "David Bruen, Jr. (1825-1862). Portrait. Unknown artist or date. Brother of Mary Ann Taylor, wife of Brigadier. General. Nelson Taylor. Unknown date. Portrait has damage near the face area of the portrait. Died young, age 37."
