The Kotas' central religion is centered around ancestors, powerful figures in life who continue to wield power from the the afterlife. The skulls and long bones of the dead are hidden away in baskets, and reliquary figures watch over the relics. These figures are wood sculptures covered with sheets of copper or brass. They guard the sacred bones and protect the ancestral spirit from evil. Condition is very good.
