The underside is marked ORTIZ, © 78, 47/50, DOUBLE EAGLE, and NAMBÉ, identifying it as a 1978 limited edition example numbered 47 out of 50.

Fred Ortiz, associated with Nambé, New Mexico, is known for bronze vessels inspired by traditional Southwestern and Native American pottery forms. This piece has strong decorative presence, substantial visual weight, and an attractive aged bronze patina.
