Picturesque Europe: A Delineation by pen and pencil of the natural features and the picturesque and historical places of Great Britain and the continent, Bayard Taylor editor. Published by D. Appleton and Company, USA. Hardcover. Condition very good. No jacket. Date/edition: 1875, 1878, 1879, no added dates or printing is indicated in any of the volumes. All three volumes are hardbound in Matching leather with stamped decorations and lettering on front and rear covers and spines, with gold lettering and highlights. Raised hubs on the spines, All page end gilt, marbled end papers. Each volume measures 10” x 13” with 488, 460, and 491 pages. No dust jacket as issued. Bindings are all tight, hinges strong, all volumes mostly clean inside and out, with some foxing. Acid transfer from steel engraving’s present. Rubbing at edges and corner with somewhere at top of the spine. All three volumes are profusely illustrated with wood and steel engravings by European and American artists. Extremely heavy set.
