Painting of Kunya-ark Citadel, Khiva-Uzbekistan. Originally dating to the early 12th century, the Kunya-ark Citadel was the main fortress and residence of the rulers of Khiva. Expanded in the late 17th century, it is one of the best preserved military structures in Uzbekistan and has changed little over the years.
